No, Hello Kitty medical masks aren’t en Vogue in Thailand. This is actually the punishment for any Thai police officer caught breaking the rules!

Starting this fall, students at public colleges can drop no more than six courses as undergraduates. The rule applies to those enrolling as first-time freshmen and will follow them until they graduate.

Rep. Fred Brown, R-College Station, wrote the cap legislation in the House. It stalled there, but he attached it as an amendment to a successful Senate bill. Brown didn’t conduct an economic-impact analysis, but he said dropping classes costs taxpayers money.

“It puts a huge drain on the state,” Brown said late last week, adding that he contacted universities before offering the bill. “I called around. Nobody had a problem with it.”

Brown apparently didn’t talk to the people who will have to implement the bill. They’re hustling to deal with the new rule, but many would like to see it disappear.

“It kind of caught everybody by surprise,” said Dominic Chavez, spokesman for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. “Everyone thought they’d made it go back to bed. There’s going to be a real challenge tracking it across institutions.

“Schools are going to have to change the way they do business. There will be a cost involved.”

texas-am.jpgArticle from Houston Chronicle:

COLLEGE STATION — The Texas A&M Aggies reported for fall camp with few surprises Sunday afternoon. They hit the field for the first time this afternoon in preparation for the upcoming season.”It’s exciting. You live with a lot of anticipation for this day as a football coach,” said Texas A&M coach Dennis Franchione. “I know the guys, just talking to them (Sunday), are excited.”You feel a little left out when you can’t work with them in the summer in the weight room and things like that.”Franchione said almost all 105 players showed up Sunday, with senior safety Japhus Brown, who has been ruled academically ineligible, among the missing. Also not on campus was freshman quarterback Brandon Williams, who is still going through the NCAA Clearinghouse process.Junior college transfer David Tufuga is excused while completing summer school course work at Snow College in Utah. Franchione said he expects Tufuga, a defensive lineman, in camp within the next two to four days. The Aggies did report one coach short, with assistant head coach/running backs coach Kenith Pope temporarily sidelined after having surgery last week.”He’s going to be fine and will be back before too long,” Franchione said.

Aw, don’t we all love to reminsce? This was by far my favorite move when I was in elementary. It reminds of Lisa frank and recess. Not to mention that the rap scene is simply priceless. Watch and enjoy.

While preparing for this blog, I stumbled upon yet another whack application that Facebook has helped launch, I introduce you to Harry Corder’s “What’s your pimp name?” First of all, do people still use the damn word “pimp” when referring to a friend of dubious acts? If so, would they be proud of Fadeproof Joker(that would be my given pimp name)? Since 53,728 have adopted the app, someone is enjoying their new surname. But don’t worry, If you’re name turns out like mine, you could also try the What’s your porn, gangsta, and stripper name apps. This really needs to stop…

Welcome everyone to my student oriented blog, First Year Grade Exclusion! I haven’t had the time to setup a proper “about” page, so I thought I would take some time out to clarify a few things.

What is this site about?

The First Year Grade Exclusion blog covers news, sports, gossip, entertainment, and the occasional scandal at Texas A&M and surrounding universities. Also, we can’t ignore the fact that we’re all a little obsessed with reality tv and celebrity gossip, so there will be a little of that here too.

Why is it called “First Year Grade Exclusion?”

Well, I hope every student wants a college education so to provide them with the knowledge and life skills that will allow them to develop to their fullest capacities and never have to fill out that little white form known as the “First Year Grade Exclusion” but with 8am classes and Thurdays being the new Fridays, lets just say it’s very easy phrase to remember…

What is your posting schedule?

Personally, I will be post everyday along with two new articles. However, there are few contributing writers who will begin around the time school starts, so just check back daily! If you would like, you can subscribe to this blog and receive posts through your email daily. Also, we have a myspace page( I know you want to be our friend). In addition to this blog, I have a fashion blog called Chic and Untroubled that is just as amazing.

Can I write for this blog?
Absolutely! For writing opportunities just send me a message through the contribution tab at the top of the blog, and I will get back with you as soon as possible.

Why do you need tips?

First, I’m not talking about your aggie bucks. No, what we need are the juicy campus gossip stories and we need them bad, like a fat kid needs cake! Don’t you want more of those blind items? Note, you will always have complete anonymity and your name will never be published. Send all of your secrets to firstyeargradeexclusion@gmail.com

**Note: We have been getting ALOT of traffic lately, so don’t be afraid to leave a comment or two. Really, we don’t bite!

Thanks for everybody supporting my blog thus far! When it launches in August, it will be NOTHING like this lol. It will be very interesting, funny, amazing, and completely addictive. As we speak, I’m preparing and researching as much as possible to make this the best blog of the 2007-20008! Also, I have a fashion blog that will be very active so you can check me out there until I come back to this site. Enjoy the Ferris Bueller Clip!
